Concept 3

The short story collection I published a few months ago with my brother Paul and my sister Betsy is now available for free for a very limited time (just one more day!).
You can pick it up at no cost and enjoy three separate and different short stories. Paul’s story, The Price of Greatness, is about man’s eternal search rivaling the ordinary of daily life. Betsy’s tale, Flutter, tells about a mother and her daughter, who is undergoing inexplicable changes. My story, A Whimper, is an end-of-the world tale through the lens of one person and society’s dependence on technology.

DEAD SLEEP — 99 CENTS!!

JUST 99 CENTS!

JUST 99 CENTS!

Yep — my first novel, Dead Sleep is on sale this week for less than a buck. Nearly 68,000 words that I wrote all by myself.

Between Dead Sleep and its sequel, Dead Sight, I’ve got 28 reviews on Amazon and all are 4-or 5-stars (in fact, 90% of the reviews are 5-star!) This book is my first novel and something I put a lot of work into. It has definitely been a learning process as well, exposing myself to the world of independent publishing full-force since I hit “publish” last summer.

Dead Sight has been out for over two months now and the third and final book in the series is churning away in my brain, just waiting for some time after high school final exams to put them down on paper. I do have the first chapter written — nearly 2,000 words — of the manuscript for Dead Search. I’ve got a ton of surprises left in store for Jack, Kristina, Donnie Cloyd, and some other characters you haven’t even met yet.

If you haven’t given this book a chance, why don’t you now? It’s just 99 cents in celebration of Cinco de Mayo or Star Wars Day or whatever you want to celebrate. Thanks a ton and happy reading!

Bookin’ It!

Standard

ImageMy novel Dead Sleep has sold pretty well, all things considered, and I totally appreciate anyone who has read it — and even more for anyone who has gone the extra step of reviewing it. It’s been $2.99 since I released it in July and the paperback is currently $11.24 on Amazon.

Next Monday (12/16) it will be 99 cents. It’ll be that price for a few days and then jump up to $1.99 for a few more days. It’s part of a new promotion tactic Amazon is using called Countdown Deals. Feel free to check out the Countdown Deal page here (where you can find the awesome Cyberstorm by Matthew Mather and some other great books for great prices right now!) That’s where you’ll find Dead Sleep on Monday and you can buy it for cheap!

But not only that, I’d really love for you to tell your friends and anyone else you know who loves to read. You can’t sniff at 99 cents and the more downloads I get on Monday and Tuesday the better because it’ll start showing up on the charts and more people will buy it and so on. (It’s like a domino effect with Kindle books)

But you might say — “Will, I’d love to, but I really like to read trilogies!”

I understand. I love series and trilogies myself. That’s why I’m nearing the end of the rough draft of Dead Sight, my sequel to Dead Sleep. I’m pretty pumped about it and I’m hoping to have it out in the next few months. After that will come book 3 and who knows from there?

But you say — “Will, I don’t have a Kindle!”

Totally understand. But, did you know you can read Kindle books on any smartphone or computer? You just need the Kindle app, which you can find here

But you say — “Will, I don’t like you!”

Also totally understandable. I occasionally don’t like me, either. But that’s OK. I learned all about self-esteem in junior high. I’ll be alright and you don’t have to buy my book if you don’t want to.

Regardless, I just wanted to plant the seed. Buy the book, tell others about it. Tweet it. Text it. Facebook it. Blog it. Share it. Anything and everything you can do would be fantastic. You can even gift it — Christmas is just around the corner!

FREE BOOKS!!

Standard

Halloween is turning out to be a treat for book-lovers. There are four books I know of that are free over the next few days which are normally not — perfect time to go pick them up.

ImageFirst off, go get Peter Cawdron’s Little Green Men. Seriously. Do it now.

I reviewed it already a few months ago and it will be well worth your time. Cawdron drew his inspiration from the Philip K. Dick stories we all grew up on and achieved his goal tremendously. A classic sci-fi tale written in modern times. LGM is free today through Nov. 3.

Next is Blood Moon by Carol Davis.

I also reviewed Blood Moon a few weeks ago and did a short interview with author Carol Davis. Carol is fairly new to the self-publishing scene on Amazon, but not new to writing. Carol has got some serious writing chops and Blood Moon shows it. A good werewolf story told in a new way. Blood Moon will be free on Halloween day.

ImageAlso free right now is Eric Tozzi’s The Scout.

This is the only one out of the bunch I haven’t yet had a chance to sink my teeth into, but boy does it look good. Very highly recommended by friends of mine, Tozzi’s book tells the story of an alien scout that was sent to survey the earth. Tozzi’s background lends itself perfectly to his first written work. From his Amazon author page: “For over five years I worked for NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a documentary producer and editor, covering Mars Exploration.” I know I’ll be reading this as soon as I get a chance.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Nighthawks at the Mission by Forbes West.

This book can probably best be summed up in this review by Michael Bunker. “Nighthawks at the Mission is an epic, fantasy, sci-fi, tour-de-force. It is also a slightly demented, scatter-brained, fragmented, meme-dropping, allusion-riddled, drug-addled, Jack Kerouac-like, stream-of-consciousness mind thumping that dares you to “get it.”

Also right now, I’m offering my own sci-fi horror short story Ant Apocalypse free today and tomorrow.

The set-up is simple — a man in a house with ants. What happens when those ants become more than what the man expects? If you download it and read it, I’d love for you to leave me a review on Amazon for it.

Anyway — that’s what I’ve got for now. Go get some great reading material!!
